LOWBURN is a Finnish stoner doom force born from unfinished business. When longtime collaborators Tomi Mykkänen and Henkka Vahvanen reconnected during a brief downtime in their main band Battlelore, what started as casual jams quickly reignited into something heavier, darker, and far more deliberate. LOWBURN wasn’t formed — it resurfaced.

Rooted in Lappeenranta and forged in 2012, the band quickly assembled a full lineup, pulling in trusted allies to complete a sound built on massive riffs, hypnotic groove, and raw intensity. Drawing influence from the likes of Black Sabbath, Kyuss, and Sleep, LOWBURN carved out a sonic identity where crushing doom meets desert-driven flow and psychedelic weight.

Their debut EP Soaring High (2013) sold out rapidly, setting the tone for what was to come. The momentum carried into their first full-length Doomsayer (2015), a heavy-hitting release that established LOWBURN firmly within the international stoner and doom underground.

But it was their 2019 album Phantasma that marked a defining evolution. Darker, more expansive, and emotionally charged, the record pushed beyond straightforward riff worship into deeper, more atmospheric territory. With Phantasma, LOWBURN refined their balance between heaviness and space—blending aggressive vocals, layered guitars, and immersive soundscapes into a more mature and dynamic whole.

LOWBURN’s sound thrives on contrast: thick, fuzz-drenched riffs collide with sharp, expressive vocals, while subtle blues influences and psychedelic textures add depth beneath the surface. It’s music that feels both grounded and unrestrained—anchored in tradition, yet constantly evolving.

Over the years, lineup changes (few and far between!) have only reinforced the band’s core vision. With a solidified lineup and a clear artistic direction, LOWBURN continues to push forward without compromise.
